Meet the Reading Teachers Brenda Archambeault & Kathleen Casey
Hello from Kathleen and Brenda! Both of us are certified reading teachers, who have a wealth of classroom teaching experience, as well many years working as classroom teachers and literacy specialists in the elementary and intermediate grades. We know what helps children improve their reading: high-quality literature, great research-based assessments & instruction, student motivation, engagement, practice, and positive reinforcement.
Being involved in professional activities and learning about the latest in literacy initiatives have always been important to us. We are active members of the Cape Cod Council of the International Reading Association, the Massachusetts Reading Association, and the International Reading Association. Kathleen has been president of her local reading association, and she received the Massachusetts State Literacy Award in 2010. Both of us have advanced degrees. Brenda most recently earned her M.Ed and E.A.E.S. in Educational Leadership while teaching reading full time. In addition, both reading teachers offer consulting services to educational agencies. It is very exciting to have published two reading applications for children! iPhones and iPads are strong motivational tools, and we have seen first-hand how children become invested in their own learning when given the opportunity to use new technology that makes learning fun. |
